Description

NGC 2467, nicknamed the "Skull and Crossbones Nebula", is a star-forming in Puppis. It includes areas where large clouds of hydrogen gas incubate new stars but represents a superimposition of several stellar groups along the same approximate line of sight that have distinctly different distances and radial velocities

A rare clear night amid the seeming endless muggy clouds, humidity and rain over the last month, allowed me to leave the Pump Shed Observatory open until 3am.
The results were based on good seeing and a surprisingly low rejection rate.

Processed in PixInsight with the usual entourage of new game changing tools including SpectroPhotometricColorCalibarion, Generalised Hyperbolic Stretch and BlurXterminator.
Background extraction was with my new best friend, GraXpert  (which is free). GraXpert gives DBE a real run for its money and is generally much quicker and a lot easier to use.
